Our Story

Rooted in Compassion, Driven by Purpose

The Faculty of Peace Organization was founded with a singular, audacious goal: to make sustainable peace a reality in conflict-affected communities across Africa. What began as a small group of dedicated advocates in Lagos has grown into a continent-wide movement touching thousands of lives each year.

We believe that peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice, equity, and opportunity. By partnering with local leaders, we design culturally relevant interventions that heal trauma, mediate disputes, and build resilient communities capable of charting their own destiny.

From the Heart

Founder & President's Message

Comrade Kelly Omokaro Osunbor

Comrade Kelly Omokaro Osunbor

Founder & President, Faculty of Peace Organization

When I founded the Faculty of Peace in 2010, I carried with me the weight of communities I had seen torn apart by violence—the displaced families, the children who had never known a day without fear, the elders who wept for a peace that seemed perpetually out of reach. I knew then that peace could not be imposed from above; it had to be cultivated from within.

Over fourteen years, I have witnessed the extraordinary power of ordinary people. A mother in the Niger Delta who mediated a land dispute that had raged for decades. A young man in Kigali who chose forgiveness over vengeance. A teacher in Accra whose classroom became a sanctuary for children traumatized by conflict. These are the true architects of peace.

Our work is far from finished. Africa remains a continent of immense potential held back by cycles of violence, inequality, and injustice. But I have never been more hopeful. Every community we reach, every peacebuilder we train, every policy we influence brings us closer to a continent where every child can grow up in safety and dignity.

I invite you to join us—not as donors or spectators, but as partners in the most important work of our time: building lasting peace.
